This bee house is designed to attract a variety of bees, including mason, orchard, leaf-cutter, aphid, or carpenter bees. To set it up, simply attach the nesting box to the side of a post or building using the included mounting hardware, positioning it 3-5 feet off the ground and facing East or Southeast to provide the bees with the morning sun they love.

Constructed using pine rows and recycled poly lumber material, this Small Mason Bee House is built to withstand any weather conditions. The recycled poly lumber will not crack, split, or fade when placed outside, ensuring the house maintains its great appearance for years to come.

The eight rows of removable pine panels make cleaning the house a breeze. When the weather starts to warm up to 55°F in the Spring, you'll begin to see adult mason bees in your area. This is the time when the males and females mate, and the females will start looking for a nesting location, such as your mason bee house.

Over the course of the Spring, the females will lay their eggs, and within a week, the eggs will hatch, and the larvae will feed on the available pollen and nectar. In late June, the larvae will spin a cocoon and begin to develop into adult bees.

In the Fall, you can remove the panels and see the cocoons inside the slots, with each nesting slot potentially containing up to 8 cocoons. At this time, you can carefully remove the cocoons and place them in a container to store in the refrigerator for the Winter.

During the Winter, the cocoons will hibernate for nearly 6 months. Once the temperature reaches 57°F for several days in the following Spring, you can remove the cocoons from the refrigerator and place them outside to emerge, starting the cycle all over again.
